INTERNATIONAL CENTER OF PHOTOGRAPHY

The ICP, located in Manhattan, consists of a museum for photography, a visual culture and a photography exhibition center. It portrays the art of photography and all the critical issues it faces - in all related fields. These different aspects are expressed through exhibitions, collections, publications and forums. Karina Hadida’s goal was to showcase the social role of photography for the IPC Annual Report.

INTERNATIONAL CENTER OF PHOTOGRAPHY (ICP)

The ICP is the center which focuses on the art of photography and all the critical issues it faces- in all related fields. These different aspects are expressed through exhibitions, collections, publications and forums, a visible combination that makes the ICP stand out from its peers. Karina Hadida’s goal was to showcase the social role of photography for the ICP Annual Report.

For the cover of the Annual Report, the bet was placed on a collection of photos from an exhibition by Seamus and Tara Farrell, who are associated with Unicef. The photographs portrayed thousands of lost children, during the Rwanda genocide, simply holding up a number. The displayed number was used to help children find their families and reunite with them.

Karina Hadida carefully chose and curated a selection of photos taken that year for the Annual Report, which were sometimes controversial, often shocking, and always thought provoking. The aim was to select photos that would fight dogmas, address social issues and ask the viewer tough questions, all through the powerful medium of photography.
